BETTINA ARLT
AVÜ
BETTINA ARLT, chairwoman of AVÜ (German Association of Audiovisual Translators) since 2022, holds a diploma in literary translation and has been a language practitioner for subtitling, voiceover and dubbing translation for over 20 years, working from English and French into German. She used to work in quality control in a subtitling agency and is translating TV shows, documentaries and feature films. Furthermore she has done subtitling training courses at her alma mater in Düsseldorf.

CHARLOTTE STEIN
AVÜ
CHARLOTTE STEIN is a freelance translator and sworn interpreter, and the 2nd chairwoman of AVÜ. She mainly works as a subtitler in the fields of live subtitling, SDH, and subtitle translation. Besides, she offers training courses on subtitling and on sensitive language. She completed her Master's degree in Terminology and Language Technology at Cologne University of Applied Sciences, where she graduated with distinction as the best in her year. Her working languages are German, English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.

ÄNNE TROESTER
Synchronverband
ÄNNE TROESTER is an award-winning dubbing scriptwriter, and considers "Peaky Blinders," "Extras," El secreto de sus ojos, and the new Star Trek films some of her most satisfying projects to date. She has also worked as a dubbing supervisor and language consultant for Peloton and on international dubbing projects from The Grinch to The Emoji Movie. Her training concept has brought many new colleagues into the industry and she recently published a unique, language-agnostic online dubbing scriptwriting class on AVT Masterclass. She is an elected member of the governing board of "Synchronverband e.V. - Die Gilde". She has talked and written extensively about the magic of dubbing and about the role of AI in the dubbing industry. Änne Troester grew up in Germany, Austria, and the US, and she holds a PhD in American Studies from Leipzig University. She now lives in Berlin.

HENNING BOCHERT
BDÜ
HENNING BOCHERT is a certified translator and author specializing in theater and performative literature. With a background in acting from UdK Berlin and stage work across Zurich, Berlin, and Frankfurt, he founded Bochert Translations in 1997 and has translated plays and literary texts for over 30 years. His own writing has been staged by companies such as Theater der Altmark and published in journals like PS | Politisch schreiben. Bochert is a member of several translation and theater networks, including Drama Panorama and The Fence. His recent work includes the translation of Die Rose im Sand by Susan Glaspell (2023). He has received numerous grants and awards from institutions like the DÜF, VG Wort and the Goethe Institute.

ANDREA BALLISTA
GALA
ANDREA BALLISTA has been working in the voice production and localization industry for more than 25 years. Starting from the passion of music, songwriting and singing, he holds a Computer Music graduation. After having co-founded Binari Sonori in 1994, he has been Audio Director for Keywords Studios from 2015 until the end of 2019. In 2020 he co-founded Voiseed to proceed into research and development of deep learning based emotional virtual voices. He is one of the Audiovisual GALA SIG Moderator from 2024.

IRIS C. PERMUY
ATRAE
IRIS C. PERMUY holds a degree in Translation and Interpreting, a master’s in Audiovisual Translation, and a postgraduate qualification in International Cultural Management. She has worked as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Murcia, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the Sorbonne Nouvelle University and the Autonomous University of Madrid. She was also a visiting researcher at the Disability Cultural Center at Syracuse University in New York. She is currently writing her doctoral thesis at Universitat Jaume I, a comparative analysis of accessibility services for blind and visually impaired individuals in museums around the world. In addition to her academic work, she has been working as an audiodescriber for over a decade and combines this with her activism as president of ATRAE and vice president of AVTE.

ÁNGEL UREÑA PORRAS
AETI
ÁNGEL UREÑA PORRAS, Vice Secretary of AETI, is a Translation and Interpreting student (EN/FR > ES) at the University of Málaga, with a special interest in audiovisual translation, legal translation, and teaching Spanish as a foreign language. He has completed various language immersion courses both in Spain and abroad.

SALVADOR NICOLÁS ALCÁZAR
AETI
SALVADOR NICOLÁS ALCÁZAR, Treasurer of AETI, is studying Translation and Interpreting (EN/IT > ES) at the University of Murcia. He is actively involved in student representation at his university and is a member of several governing bodies. He has a strong passion for audiovisual translation, especially dubbing and subtitling, which has also sparked his interest in translation research.
